What are the differences between Electrical and Electronic Engineering ?

The difference between electrical and electronic engineering
The difference between electrical and electronic engineering
The difference between electrical and electronic engineering?
Answer: We only than understand the answer of above question what is being asked only after understanding the basic about electricity, electric or electrical, electronics, engineering and engineer.
Let’s begin with engineering and engineer first:-
Engineering refers to the practice of organizing the design and construction (and I would add operation) of any artifice which transforms the physical world around us to meet some recognized need.
 …………..G. F. C. Rogers

Let’s elaborate it now:-
The word engineering is the art or way out of doing anything good for human beings by utilizing the sources of energy and materials that are available in nature. To able to apply the knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering to the solution of engineering problem, it is required to study. We can only say s/he is a skilled engineer when s/he has the ability to apply the fundamentals of mathematics, science and engineering is the solution of a problem. Who use the engineering knowledge is called and engineer. Hope you are now clearly understood about the terms, engineering and engineer.
Now move on to the electricity:-
We cannot deny, our modern civilization wholly depends on the electricity. It will not be wrong that electricity keeps running all the things (electric appliances) of entertainment, comfort, happiness and doing development in the area of industry, it gets mixed up with the men’s day today life. We have two types of electricity. One is static electricity and another one is current electricity. Current electricity can travel from one point to another point through a metal wire, whereas static electricity cannot travel or flow through a metal wire (more clearly which is conductor).
Here we are going to give our attention on current electricity.

Now it is the turn of understanding about the terms, electric or electrical:-
According to the meaning both words bear the same meaning.

Electrical Power Transmission from Source to Load
Figure 1: Electrical Power Transmission from Source to Load
To understand meaning of electrical, let first look at the above figure there is a source(S) and a load (L) in between them there some distances available. Here electrical means the part or portion of this system that associated with the energy flow from source (S) to Load (L). Here source or power generation, transmission or distribution and the load which are made or manufactured by doing coil by coper conductor e.g. motor, transformer (the load which are functioned by the current flowing through the wire inside the load). These are all associated with electrical. So we can say, Electrical Engineering involves with the analysis and design of Electricity generation system, its efficient transmission and distribution system and some loads (home appliances) which are constructed from conductor and there operation what depends on the amount of current flow through these conductors.

Again look back at the figure 1, and assume there is no controlling part (control unit (C) is absent). Now imagine what may happen to this electrical circuit. It seems clear to all of you out there, the electricity produced by the source or generating station will flow towards the destination (load) without getting any interruption or any controlling. The load will run by the source, how long the generation of electric power going on. If generation is stopped load automatically shut down. In this situation if we want to control output by the load more or less, totally not possible. In this circumstance load always gives the maximum output.

So hope it is now clear to you all what is electrical or electric system or engineering. Now it’s time to turn our consent towards the electronics system or engineering. Again take a look at the figure 1 and now the ‘control unit (C)’ between source and load is present. What is it? What are the functions of it? Why we should or must use it?

You may say it is somewhat which function it to regulate voltage and controlled current depending on the load demand (Home or industry appliance). So it is clear from here that the function of his box send required voltage and current to the load. Now question is what is inside the Black Box (C)? If we open it, then we will see some tiny components all are housed on a single board called PCB (Printed circuit board).

In conclusion we can say The Electrical engineering deals with the power generation and also proper transmission & distribution to the consumer premises.

And The Electronics Engineering surely deals with the engineering of which is associated to the controlling and properly utilization the electrical power. The great function of electrical engineering is to sense the any abnormality and take the proper decision and give the command to portion which will save the entire electrical system from any severe damage.
Some system may combine of both Electrical and Electronic system.
